HTC yesterday introduced two new mobile devices to the market in an effort to boost its Android presence.

The new additions, both based on the Android platform, are the Desire HD, which features an impressive 4.3” display and the Desire Z, featuring a flip out QWERTY keyboard.

Desire HD

The Desire HD sports a 1 GHz Qualcomm 8255 processor and its 4.3” screen will boast a resolution of 800 x 480. It will also ship equipped with Android 2.2 Froyo straight out of the box and a fast boot feature which enables it to power up in roughly ten seconds.

HTC incorporated an 8 megapixel camera onboard with the device also capable of shooting video at 720p complete with Dolby Surround Sound.

Desire Z

The Desire Z will feature the new 800 MHz Qualcomm 7230 processor and will boast a 3.7” screen with a resolution of 800 x 480, also incorporating the fast boot feature and Froyo onboard. In an unusual move for HTC it also contains a fold out QWERTY keyboard.

These announcements are undoubtedly part of HTC’s bid to remain relevant in the Android market. Although the company was the first to launch the platform, a number of manufacturers including Samsung, Sony Ericsson and Motorola have now also begun producing Android based devices.
