MTN South Africa has announced that it is reviving Mahala Thursdays, following a great response to this promotion when it was introduced in March last year.

Every Thursday, MTN Prepaid and TopUp customers who recharge their airtime balance with a minimum of R10, will automatically receive an additional 50% of their recharge value loaded on their account.

To qualify for the promotion, customers need to recharge with a minimum cumulative value of R10 on Thursdays. Unfortunately, Me2U transfers will not qualify for the free value, and the free airtime cannot be transferred via Me2U.

Only airtime recharges qualify for the offer, therefore Data bundle and SMS bundle voucher loads are excluded. The free airtime will not qualify for loyalty points, and customers can only use the free airtime giveback on MTN to MTN calls, SMSs and internet usage. This airtime giveback also expires on the same day (Thursday) at 23:59 that it was loaded.
“The success of Mahala Thursdays is testament to the fact that we are in tune with the needs and demands of our customers for more value,” said Serame Taukobong, chief marketing officer at MTN SA.

“We understand that customers want real value aligned with their telephony spend, value that eases the financial load and allows them to stretch their penny even further. Mahala Thursdays adequately addresses this need much to the delight and benefit of our customers. We are excited to once again run a promotion that has the whole country enjoying a Mahala day every Thursday.”

In related news, MTN also recently announced the launch of Apple’s iPad with Retina Display, which is already available in store and will soon be joined by the iPad mini that is due to be released later this month.
