Twitter has announced a delay in scheduled maintenance to their micro-blogging service in light of recent happenings in Iran. Dissatisfied Iranian protestors have increasingly made use of Twitter to communicate about the protests and organise themselves, as other communication methods have been disrupted by the incumbent government. Twitter's maintenance would have downed the micro-blogging while it was day-time in Iran. But how much did a US State Department request request to delay their maintenance force Twitter's decision? Well apparently not much according to Twitter co-founder Biz Stone. Stone, in a recent post on Twitters blog, said that the State Department "does not have access to our decision making process". He did however state that Twitter and the State Department do agree "that the open exchange of information is a positive force in the world".
