The much rumoured BlackBerry Torch aka 9800 Slider might be officially unveiled in less than a week.

According to BlackBerryCool, the device is likely to be announced on 3 August, after an invite from BlackBerry holding company Research in Motion (RIM) was sent to several technology and BlackBerry related media companies. This invite boasts an AT&T logo, BlackBerry 6 icons as well as a huge ‘6′ in the background.

The 9800 Slider will likely be the first BlackBerry smartphone to be released with BlackBerry OS 6 and its unofficial initial specs indicate that it might employ a 3.2" 360 x 480 resolution touch-screen, with slide-out QWERTY keyboard, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, HSDPA and GPS.
