Nashua Mobile has announced that it will be offering 8ta’s cellular services and products to its subscribers countrywide with immediate effect. 8ta, which is Telkom’s mobile arm, is South Africa’s fourth and newest mobile network operator.

8ta’s full range of postpaid (contract) products are now available from Nashua Mobile’s national network of dealers and franchised stores, whilst its prepaid products will be available as of 7 June 2011.

The company stated that the first 100 000 8ta customers to sign up for a contract at Nashua Mobile will get free calls to a nominated Telkom number for 24 months.

“We are delighted to offer our customers even more choice by adding the 8ta products and services to our portfolio. 8ta offers some compelling, competitively priced voice and data products for consumers,” stated Andy Baker, Nashua Mobile’s chief executive officer.

“What’s more, the backing of Telkom means that 8ta is ideally positioned to be a major player in a converging telecommunications landscape. We look forward to seeing what sort of bundles and products the company will be able to offer in the convergence space in the years ahead.”

Stephen Blewett, executive for marketing and sales at 8ta added: “As one of the largest independent service providers in South Africa, Nashua Mobile is a perfect partner for our business.”

“We look forward to working with Nashua Mobile to grow our subscriber base in the years to come.”
