New Norton security software steps up the antivirus game
By Johan Keyter 13 October 2010 | Categories: newsNorton and Symantec recently released new Norton security software in the form of Norton AntiVirus 2011 and Norton Internet Security 2011.
With the increasing threat of cyber criminals, having up to date security software has become absolutely essential. As an industry leader Norton claims to offer the most comprehensive protection available in their new products.
The new 2011 software products have been designed to be fast as possible while not being overly resources intensive.
Some of Norton’s new features include System Insight 2.0, a function that monitors all running applications and let's the user know if a certain program is hogging system memory and causing slowdown along the way.
Download Insight 2.0 helps keep downloads squeaky clean by vigorously checking every file before it's allowed to run. SONAR 3 will help protect users from malware already on their system by identifying suspicious software, especially those that are designed to evade security software.
The company is also including the new Norton Power Eraser with the software, a feature that aggressively targets and eliminates fake antivirus applications masquerading as a helping hand.
A last feature that really caught our attention is Norton Safe Web for Facebook, this feature scans current Facebook news feeds to see if any friends posted unsafe links in their status updates.
“Today’s cyber criminals are not standing down; consumers need the very best protection to stay safe online,” said Kara Rawden, senior marketing manager Middle East & Africa, Symantec.
“The Norton 2011 products are the highest quality we have ever built and the market’s most comprehensive protection with value-added tools for protecting customers from today’s ever-evolving threats.”
