Media mogul Rupert Murdoch is reportedly working on his latest newspaper, The Daily, that will exclusively be made available via Apple’s iPad.

According to the New York Times, this new iPad-centred newspaper is being put together in News Corporation’s Manhattan offices and will make its appearance at the beginning of next year.

The billionaire chairman and CEO of News Corporation started the new digital paper with an investment of $30 million (around R209 million) and about a 100 staff members. This new publication is to be the first of its kind, boasting digital media as well as photography that have been purposely constructed for Cupertino’s iPad.

Although most of the articles and media of this forthcoming digital publication will be original content, it will also include some of News Corps.’ other media assets, the likes of Fox Sports’ video footage.

During an interview on Fox Business Murdoch stated that The Daily was his “No. 1 most exciting project.”

Last month the News Corporation owned social networking site, MySpace, unveiled a dramatic new site redesign, which is seen as a last ditch effort to save the site, as it is expected that Rupert Murdoch will sell the site if the redesign doesn’t produce the hoped for results.
