Nintendo will be replacing its Wii Remote controller with the Wii Remote Plus controller, as of 7 November 2010 Stateside. This Wii Remote Plus controller sports built-in Wii MotionPlus functionality and will become the new standard Wii controller in all Wii hardware packages and bundles as of next month.
 
The Japanese company has announced that the standard that since the launch of its Wii console, it has sold a staggering 46 000 Wii remote controllers per day in the US, amounting to a total of over 65.3 million controllers being sold in the States alone.
 
According to the market research firm NPD Group, Nintendo also sold an additional 52.9 million Nunchuk controllers in the US, through until the end of September. The Group also provided a breakdown of the controller sales:
  • 30.41 million included with the Wii console
  • 12.92 million sold with Wii Play
  • 18.56 million white controllers sold separately
  • 2.44 million black controllers sold separately
  • 467 500 pink controllers sold separately
  • 465 200 blue controllers sold separately
Nintendo also recently announced a range of new products to be added to its Wii range in time for the holiday season, which includes a Mario red limited-edition Wii and Nintendo DSi XL system bundles that celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros.
