Nvidia is out to achieve GPU dominance with the launch of its latest Fermi-based graphics processing unit (GPU), the GeForce GT 430.

The GPU maker first unveiled its top of the line GeForce GTX 480 and GTX 470, and then followed these up with capable but more pocket-friendly performers, the likes of the GTX 460 and GTS 450

Aimed at media PCs, the company’s latest GPU, the GeForce GT 430, provides users with high-definition video and audio, features a special video engine to accelerate Blu-ray 3D content, as well as support for the next generation of GPU-accelerated web browsers and browser content.

Although it is aimed more at multimedia users, Nvidia’s GT 430 will also cater to the needs of casual gamers as it boasts supports for DirectX 11. According to Nvidia the card can handle playable frame rates for a lot of today’s top games including Starcraft II, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Far Cry 2 and Left for Dead 2.

It also sports 96 CUDA cores, 1 GB of DDR3 or GDDR5 memory and a dedicated video processing engine for reduced system power and heat.

Nvidia’s GeForce GT 430 is available from the company’s GPU partners including ASUS, EVGA, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, Leadtek, MSI and Sparkle. Local availability and pricing are not available yet.
