The argument revolving around ex HP chief executive Mark Hurd is swiftly heating up, with new employer Oracle responding sharply to HP’s lawsuit against Hurd.

Reports surfaced recently that Hurd had elected to resign from HP’s top position after an alleged sex and expenses scandal cast a shadow over his name.

HP competitor Oracle wasted little time in bringing on Hurd as co-president to assist the databases manufacturer steal a portion of HP’s market share. In response, HP filed a lawsuit against Hurd which claims that the ex chief executive will be unable to assist Oracle in growing its market share without giving away strategic trade secrets regarding HP, which could significantly weaken the company.

In a shocking rebuttle, Oracle chief executive officer and friend to Hurd, Larry Ellison, has released an explosive corporate statement which labels HP’s actions as vindictive and adds that HP and Oracle will no longer be able to work together as partners in the future.

“Oracle has long viewed HP as an important partner, by filing this vindictive lawsuit against Oracle and Mark Hurd, the HP board is acting with utter disregard for that partnership, our joint customers, and their own shareholders and employees. The HP Board is making it virtually impossible for Oracle and HP to continue to cooperate and work together in the IT marketplace.”

HP has yet to offer a response, although one can be sure that the technology giant won’t take fighting words like these lightly.
