Panasonic recently unveiled its new HDC-SD700EPK camcorder, promising users sharper, more vibrant colour reproduction and clarity.

The camcorder utilises the advanced 3MOS System which delivers high-sensitivity performance for better video capturing in dimly lit rooms or outdoors at night. Panasonic is really lauding the camcorder’s night shooting abilities, saying it gives beautifully coloured shots of night-time scenery and evening parties.

Thanks to its 1080/50p recording, sensitivity is improved while noise levels are reduced by half, allowing for twice the information of interlace recording to be captured. Compared to the conventional interlace method, the 1080/50p technology not only contains twice the amount of information but it also greatly increases image density to make even the most minute details clear.

Panasonic also claims the HDC-SD700EPK is the ideal tool for shooting sport scenes as it smoothly reproduces images of fast-moving subjects without leaving behind any visible after-images. Other features include an optical image stabiliser (OIS), intelligent Auto (iA) with face recognition, 18x zoom and still image recording at 14.2 megapixels.

The company also unveiled what it calls "the perfect Panasonic partner", a SanDisk Extreme 30 MB/s Edition SDHC card. The card is SanDisk's fastest SDHC card yet and allows the user to shoot hours of material without needing to download or erase data before changing cards. The card is classified as class 10, meaning it exceeds the requirements of a high definition video card.

The card is available in either 4, 8, 16 or 32 GB configurations, and Panasonic claims it makes the perfect companions to its new HDC-SD700EPK camcorder.

The new Panasonic HDC-SD700EPK camcorder is retailing for a recommended R10 999 while a SanDisk Extreme SDHC card costs between R400 and R2370, depending on what size you go for. SanDisk products are backed by a lifetime warranty.
