MTN announced the launch of its new Eazi Recharge service earlier this week.

The service allows MTN customers, who register for the service, to buy prepaid airtime by using their MasterCard or Visa credit card and their cellphone.

MTN customer’s can register for the service via SMS buy dialling *140*10# and following the prompts, filling in quite a bit of personal information, as is expected.

This registration process links the customer’s credit card to the service which can be used to purchase prepaid and Top-Up airtime directly for their phone. Airtime can also be bought for beneficiaries.

A stolen or lost cellphone registered with the service does however present a risk to customers. While there is a R300 cap on daily spend, customers should contact MTN immediately if their phone is lost or stolen to disable the service.
