SA spammers named and shamed
By Tom Manners 14 June 2010 | Categories: newsThe Internet Service Providers’ Association of South Africa has officially released the latest instalment to its Hall of Shame, which lists South Africa’s top spammers.
According to ISPA it has released “this report to assist South African consumers to effectively manage local unsolicited bulk email”
“There is currently significant growth in the generation of local spam and while ISPA’s members do their best to keep spam out of their customers’ inboxes, this does come at a cost” ISPA continues.
This is part of an effort, says ISPA, to inform the biggest spam culprits in South Africa regarding the error of their ways and to encourage them to reduce the amount of unsolicited email that they choose to send.
At present, Spam makes up the majority of email distributed globally on a daily basis. The economic cost associated with managing, distributing and blocking such email is huge.
