During December Samsung revealed its Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) update plans for some of its Galaxy mobile devices, kicking off with the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note smartphones during Q1 of this year.

Now the Korean tech giant has announced a delay to this update becoming available for the Galaxy Note. Users will have to wait until Q2 2012, for the firm to offer a Premium Suite upgrade. This update will include extra multimedia features and a range of new S Pen optimised applications, in addition to the mobile operating system (OS) upgrade to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich).

Included within the Premium Suite upgrade is S Note, a software tool that lets users combine their notes or sketches with other digital content. S Note comes in various ready-to-use templates for a range of tasks including meeting minutes, diary and more. This application also includes the Shape Match and Formula Match apps to assists users in digitising geometric shapes and even solve numeric formulas that have been hand-drawn using the S Pen. You can draw tables and grids, which are then instantly digitised, in order to save time and effort.

For a touch of self-expression, the Premium Suite includes My Story, an S Pen optimised application that allows users to create personalised digital cards for friends or family. This is done by using any type of multimedia content including notes, videos, photos, text or voice.

Android Ice Cream Sandwich

In addition to the Premium Suite update, Samsung said that its Android ICS upgrade will bring an entirely new look and feel to Google’s Android mobile OS on the Galaxy Note. A more intuitive user interface will come, integrating elements such as the redesigned app menu that enables simpler multi-tasking. New functionality is included with this firmware update includes Face Unlock, Snapshot, as well as Android Beam.

Samsung stated that the availability and scheduling of the software upgrade will vary by market and mobile operators’ specific requirements. No local release info concerning this upgrade is available yet.
