Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman smartphone announced
By Staff Writer 22 August 2011 | Categories: newsAfter recently launching the Xperia active, ray and txt, Sony Ericsson is back on the Android attack with the Live with Walkman. According to Sony Ericsson, this Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) smartphone delivers a unique social music experience, thanks to a dedicated Walkman hardware button, providing instant access to the music player. There’s also an Infinite button that links to new content from users’ favourite artists, such as music videos, artist information and lyrics search, while the Qriocity service from Sony also makes an appearance, enabling music and video content from major studios.
As is almost demanded from smartphones these days, Facebook integration is an important part of the Live with Walkman phone. Sony Ericsson believes the integration is “deep”, allowing users to instantly access Facebook through the most used areas of the phone such as the picture gallery, music player, phonebook and calendar.
With attractive curved design, a glossy finish and a mineral glass display, the phone has a 3.2” screen and a powerful 1 GHz processor. A front facing camera is enabled for Skype video calling, while a 5MP AF camera can capture 720p HD video recording. Sony’s xLOUD enhances audio output especially on higher levels, while a 2 GB microSD card comes included. As is standard on most Sony Ericsson smartphones, the TrackID music recognition software is also onboard.
Colin Williamson, marketing manager from Sony Ericsson South Africa said: “Consumers want smartphones to deliver a rich and social entertainment experience. Rather than a one dimensional music experience, they want instant and seamless access to new content, combined with the ability to share and connect with their friends. The Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman provides exactly this, in a powerful package with great style.”
Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will be available globally in selected markets from Q4 2011. Price and exact release date in SA is not yet available.
