Sony today announced that it is once again pushing the boundaries of its PlayStation platform by expanding storage options for the PlayStation 3 Slim Move bundle.

According to Sony executives, consumers will soon be able to purchase a 320 GB PlayStation 3 Slim bundle which will also feature the Move motion controller interface and a copy of Sony’s Sports Champions Move bundle for $399 (roughly R3 000) upon its release later this year.

This marks a 70 GB jump from Sony’s largest bundles, which features 250 GB of hard drive space.

According to Reuters however, analysts do not believe that this jump in storage capacity will have a significant effect on sales.

"In the greater scheme of things, it means nothing. Every year the price of storage goes down so the average storage in any given device goes up," said Daniel Ernst, analyst with Hudson Square Research.

Locally, the PlayStation Move will be released on the 15th of September. The Start Up package will cost R699 and the stand-alone version will be R449.

No word on whether the 320 GB bundle will be released in South Africa has yet been given.
