The popular site Chatroulette, which allows users to video chat with random people from all over the globe, will be clamping down on the large number of video flashers showing unsuspecting site visitors a little more than they bargained for.

 

According to CNN, the site’s founder, a Russian teenager named Andrey Ternovskiy, has proposed a way to put an end to the flashers. “With the help of a few good developers we’ve started collecting information, such as IP addresses, logs and screen captures of offenders who actually break US/UN laws by broadcasting inappropriate content in a specific situations,” Ternovskiy posted. 

 

“We are initiating a conversation with enforcement agencies and we are willing to provide all the information we have. I hope that with help of a Criminal law we can finally get the problem out of our shoulders and get existing organizations which usually solve these kind of problems to help us.”

 

 

Apple appears to be purging its online book store in order to erase adult entertainment titles. According to Gizmodo, Cupertino allegedly removed three adult-oriented books from its bestseller list on Tuesday. 

 

The two top ranking titles on the list, Blonde and Wet and Big Sis, both erotic short stories by author Carl East were removed along with Six Sexy Stories by Ginger Starr, which held the fifth position on the list. According to the description of Six Sexy Stories, it is composed of "six ultra-erotic short stories for your reading pleasure! M/F, F/F, group scenes and light role play. All characters are 18+ and consenting adults. Not for readers under 18." 

 

 

The investment divisions of both the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as well as Google are reportedly investing in a company which monitors the World Wide Web in real time.

 

According to Wired, Recorded Future searches thousands of sites, blogs and Twitter accounts on the web in order to find the relationships between people, organisations, actions and incidents which exist currently and will exist in the future. The aim of the company is to be able to work out who, where and when incidents and events around the globe might go down and illustrate the online “momentum” of those events.

 

“The cool thing is, you can actually predict the curve, in many cases,” says company CEO Christopher Ahlberg, a former Swedish Army Ranger with a PhD in computer science.

 

 

Microsoft has incorporated a variety of key features in the forthcoming release of its Office 2011 suite for Mac. Amongst the new features to be added is the new Template Gallery which “allows you to quickly and easily pick a template from the built-in designs to the thousands of templates online.” 

 

Also included is Conversation View to “sort emails easily to keep track of what you need to do” and the new Office for Mac ribbon, which congregates the “most commonly used controls at your fingertips making it easier for you to find what you need.”    

 

 

Adobe will be acquiring web software maker Day Software Holding (DSH) in a deal worth about $240 million (approx. R1.763 billion). Adobe is set to benefit by having its enterprise software solutions bolstered by DSH’s web content management (WCM), digital asset management as well as social collaboration offerings.

 

“Adobe’s acquisition of Day represents a key milestone in our efforts toward delivering best-in-class customer experience management solutions to enterprises and governments worldwide,” said Rob Tarkoff, senior vice president and general manager, Digital Enterprise Solutions, Adobe. “With the addition of Day to our enterprise portfolio, we will be able to enhance the value of our offering and deliver on our vision of the web as the hub of customer interaction.”
