HP’s image is set to hop to new hip tune

HP might be best known for its range of notebooks, but they are engaged in a broad spectrum of IT related fields. They are going to school the general public about what exactly it is they do, via a new $40 million (approx. R296 million) “Let’s Do Amazing” advertising campaign, that’ll run for eight weeks. One of the celebs that HP approached to help cure them of this lack of public awareness is rapper Dr. Dre.
 
Carlos Slim Helu has slim fortune edge over Bill Gates

 
Forbes this week released its annual list of the World’s Billionaires, and there’s a new top dog amongst the world’s most exclusive club. Mexican telecom magnate Carlos Slim Helu and his family bumped Bill Gates off the title of world’s richest person. His net worth is estimated at $53.5 billion (around R396 billion), whilst second placed Gates’ estimated net worth is $53 billion (about R392.25 billion). 
 
Zero to Twitter hero in no time
 
Following hot on the heels of Conan O'Brien's selection of a random person on Twitter to make famous, the guys over at the This Week in Tech show did the same. One of the shows hosts looked for a random person on Twitter who only had about 2-3 tweets and found Lisa Etheridge from Auckland in New Zealand. He then proceeded to following her on Twitter and so did everyone who listened or watched the show. After only a week Lisa has over 20 500 people following her on Twitter. Mind you they are also giving away an iPad if you start following her.
 
The net nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

 
The internet has been nominated for the 2010 Nobel Peace Prize with its nomination being supported by the 2003 recipient of the same award Shirin Ebadi, fashion designer Giorgio Armani, as well as the founder of the $100 laptop project Nicholas Negroponte.
