Logitech Portable Lapdesk N315
By Christo Myburgh 24 November 2010 | Categories: gizmosNotebooks tend to heat up quite a bit at the bottom, so working with one your lap eventually feels like supporting a baked bread. When using a notebook on a bed or couch you also have to move into uncomfortable positions to prevent blocking the fan. Logitech's Portable Lapdesk N315 offers a simple solution to these problems.
Design
The N315 seems like a durable product with its rubber top design to hold your notebook in place and a hard plastic bottom with two rubber strips to secure it to any flat surface. It's light enough to easily carry around in your notebook bag, but it is limited however to smaller sized notebooks of 15” or less.
The best feature of the N315 is the slide-out mouse pad on the side. It comes with raised edges to prevent the mouse from falling during tilt, but by mouse pad standards it is quite small. This however shouldn't be a hassle for portable mice, while regular mice's sensitivity can simply be adjusted for an easier working experience.
We like the mouse pad's bright swirl designs but apart from that the lapdesk by all accounts looks like a grey slab of plastic. It also gets dirty very easily.
Conclusion
The Portable Lapdesk N315 does exactly what it is intended to. For home or travel use this product is perfect, but for office and desk use stands providing elevation, such as the Griffin Elevator or the Ergo-Tilt, might be better options.
The mouse pad is by far the best and most attractive feature of the N315. It is very convenient as most modern laser mice still struggle to work on common bed linen. Overall its a functional product, but for something more sauve Logitech's Speaker Lapdesk N700 with comfy foam and fan should be more appealing.
The N315 is available with a retail price of R238, for more information visit www.logitech.com.
Pros: Great for working anywhere, mouse pad is very useful, easy to pop into notebook bag.
Cons: Unattractive except for mousepad, dirties quickly and limited in size.
