If you need sound for your MP3 player, but don’t quite have the budget to fork out R4000 for a multimedia dock, then you could go for these cheep and cheerful little speakers from SONICGEAR.

They’re battery-powered, but you can also get power to them through USB if you use it to better the sound on your notebook, or just via regular power supply.
