We might not have the world’s worst winter, but we certainly don’t live on some tropical paradise. At night and early in the mornings it’s cold, properly cold.

This gadget is pretty amazing. You just fill it with a tiny amount of lighter fluid, light the “burner” and stick in its little pouch. It stays warm for up to 24 hours. Seriously, we’ve thoroughly tested this one. But the Zippo holds a mystery none of us can figure out. It doesn’t actually burn. Fair enough, you technically light it, but there is no flame to be seen and it never gets too hot. Zippo puts it down to the “platinum-catalysed glass fibre burner”, but it’s probably magic.
