egrips non-slip strips
By Staff Writer 4 March 2011 | Categories: gizmos“Sleek” can be a good description of many modern smartphones, but if your phone has ever slipped and slide on your dashboard to eventually tumble underneath your feet while driving, sleek is not that great anymore. The folks over at egrips have come up with an easy solution in the form of their non-slip strips that you can attach to the back of your phone.
Functionality
Unlike the Clingo products we’ve recently tested, egrips don’t actually guarantee all-angle grip, rather these little stickers simply ensure that on a flat surface, your phone stays where you’ve put it, without skidding around. Using it in-car we received good results, while we also like the fact that your phone will not as easily drop off a table when nudged or when vibrating.
Sticking an egrips strip on your phone is no hassle at all, and even pulling it off (which should not actually be done since the egrip is supposed to remain on the back of the phone) was problem free, peeling off without leaving residue. We thought that the strip would pick up dirt easily on the sticky surface, but that was not the case - ours remained mostly dust free. Even if it does get dirty, you can simply wipe it clean with a damp cloth.
Carinabix Ltd, who sells egrips in SA, adds an interesting marketing angle, seeing that your company’s details can be printed on these little pieces of plastic, ensuring that your brand is always visibile and close to your customers’ phones.

Below is a video testing the non-slip functionality of egrips on a phone travelling at 140 km/h. Quite impressive.
