Activision says Destiny 2 will get major expansion later this year
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 9 February 2018 | Categories: newsIn a recent investor call with Bungie, Activision let it be known that Destiny 2 will be receiving at least one major expansion before the year's end. If true, it would follow suit with last year's December release of the Curse of Osiris expansion, which was a little underwhelming if we're honest.
"We have a great expansion coming in May, and a major expansion coming at the end of the year, and those events have always been opportunities to re-engage our communities and win back people who have churned out," said Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg.
While the finer details of the expansion remain unknown for now, developer Bungie did outline its plans for Destiny 2 in 2018, with many of the changes being a response to gamer discontent at how loot was earned in the game. Hopefully then, the second expansion is far more rewarding than Curse of Osiris' lacklustre loot.
As Polygon points out, to win over fans, Bungie and Activision will need to release something akin to The Taken King from the original Destiny title, which not only introduced a new enemy, but also a couple of environments too.
