Reports and information about Apple's soon-to-be released iPhone 7 have dried up, overtaken by a new batch of rumours about the company's wearables, particularly a follow-up to the Apple Watch.

The new smartwatch was originally believed to be unveiled earlier this year, at Apple's "loop you in," event. Sadly, only the iPhone SE made an appearance, but now fresh reports suggest an 'Apple Watch 2' (unofficial name) may be debuted later this year, alongside the iPhone 7 on 9 September. This comes courtesy of AppleInsider via information sent out by industry analyst Ming-chi Kuo.

Kuo notes that Apple has two new models in store for 2016, as well as an LTE-supporting version for 2017 and design overhauled variants coming the year after. While definitive details are slim on the devices Apple has slated for the next two years, this year's iteration has a bit more concrete information on it.

In terms of design, the Watch 2 will look very similar to the current Apple Watch model, with a thinner display and larger battery on the cards. The latter is certainly needed, as the Apple Watch struggles to make it through a full day's use without visiting the charging station. Moving internally, it may sport a faster 16 nm processor, as well as a barometer and radio GPS.

With its expected release one month away, we're sure more information on the Apple Watch 2  will still forthcoming.
