Apple reportedly planning to sell new iPhone, iPad Air 3 three days after announcement
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 15 February 2016 | Categories: newsWhile focus over the next two weeks remains fixed on Barcelona and Mobile World Congress, after that it's Apple's turn. The Cupertino-based company has an event dated for 15 March, with a number of devices expected for unveiling. The products in question are perhaps a bit low key by Apple's standards, but reports heavily suggest that a refresh to the iPad Air lineup and new iPhone are in the works. The latter is not a successor to the iPhone 6s, but rather a 4" device that looks like the iPhone 5, but features a few newly updated specs.
Making its way through the rumour mill this week, is the fact that Apple could have both the iPad Air 3 and iPhone 5se (unofficial name at this stage) ready for purchase Stateside by 18 March, just three days after the products are officially debuted. The reports come via 9to5Mac, a usually reputable source, and if true would be a definitive change in tactic from Apple. In the past, devices take anywhere from one to three months to make their way into retail stores.
What such a move ultimately means for Apple is debateable, but it could suggest that Apple has a number of new devices it has to launch this year, not least of which is a flagship iPhone and MacBooks.
