The Fast & Furious franchise has garnered quite a name for itself over the years. Insane stunts, suped-up cars and classic one-liners delivered in the deep baritone of Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, are part and parcel of the Furious package. The seventh installment in the series set to hit local cinemas come April Fool's this year. As such, Universal Pictures has given fans a behind the scenes look at the soon-to-be-infamous plane drop stunt. In it Toretto and his ragtag team of drivers skydive using their cars in order to pull off an intricate mobile heist.

Although Fast & Furious 7 makes use of some CGI, we were surprised to find that the plane drop stunt was completely real. To provide a bit of insight into how this death defying stunt was filmed, the video below features Luke Atkins, one of five aerial camera flyers used in Furious 7. "We're freefalling at 130 or 140 mph [210 km/h or 225 km/h]... these cars have a mind of their own, they're doing whatever they feel like," says Atkins.

Although Furious 7 is not steeped in much realism, it will undoubtedly be one of the top action films of 2015, providing viewers with plenty to talk about after the film finishes. Furious 7 is also set to make a debut in local IMAX theatres, which is sure to be an immersive experience.
