Unlike most of its counterparts, BlackBerry (now manufactured by TCL) has been relatively quiet of late. That ended this weekend, however, with the company revealing a new device in the form of the BlackBerry Motion at Gitex Tech Week in Dubai yesterday.

This isn't our first look at the Motion though, with serial leaker Evan Blass 'sharing' a handful of rendered images for the device a few days ago. In line with the leaked pictures, the Motion is pretty much a BlackBerry KEYone without a QWERTY keyboard. As such, the BlackBerry Motion should serve as TCL's latest flagship under the brand's banner.

Starting with the internal specs, much of the same elements from the KEYone are found in the Motion, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset, 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB onboard storage and a 12 MP camera on the rear. As for this phone's key difference, the screen-only design, a 5.5" 1080p display is present. Other aspects of note include a fingerprint sensor up front, an IP67-rated waterproofness and substantial 4000 mAh battery.

At this stage it remains unclear what kind of release the BlackBerry Motion will have, with Engadget reported that it will only be available in select Middle Eastern markets, for an estimated $460. With the KEYone flattering to deceive, perhaps a purely screen iteration may be a better bet for South Africa. We'll have to await word from TCL on that front though.
