With news that Apple iPhone 8 Plus batteries are swelling up, it seems like flagships can’t stay out of the spotlight. The Guardian now reports that the Samsung Galaxy S8 fails to receive certain SMS messages, with complaints coming from the UK, the States, Canada and Australia.

The phone appears to miss one in five text messages sent to it, with no warning or notification sent to the sender that the message was not delivered. When the SIM is placed in another phone, the messages do come through, appearing to be a mistake on the device, rather than on the network.

Some possible fixes to the problem include disabling Advanced Messaging in Samsung’s SMS app, making sure Android Messages are not on the list of sleeping apps, while also deactivating iMessage. There has been no official solution forthcoming from Samsung on the matter yet.

Are you experiencing problems with SMS delivery in South Africa? How did you fix the problem? Let us know in the comments below.
