If you're a seasoned Guardian, today's Age of Triumph DLC likely has your attention. How about news of an impending Destiny sequel though? Yes, Destiny 2 has been confirmed by developer Bungie, with the company issuing a tweet to make the announcement.

The image, which features the number two and Destiny lettering in the foreground, may be familiar to some, as it looks exactly the same as the one which surfaced on an Italian retailer's website last week. That image did have a difference though, with a release date of 8 September 2017 being mentioned.

At this stage though, neither Bungie or publisher Activision have commented on the game's precise launch date. Also unknown will the game's storyline, but Polygon believes the Last City may be the ruins pictured in the image above, which means the Tower that Guardians meet at in-game could have been destroyed.

Right now, all of this is conjecture, so we'll have to wait and see what else Bungie chooses to divulge.
