CGI effects for Star Wars: The Force Awakens broken down in new clip

If you haven't seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens yet, we highly recommend it. If not for its pop culture status, then purely for the spectacle. The latter sees a great mix of both practical and CGI-aided stunts and effects, with characters like Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o, 12 Years a Slave) and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis, Lord of the Rings Trilogy) garnering plenty of attention.
If you're keen to see how both performances were captured, as well as the other CGI elements of the film, IAMAG has released an exclusive video showing it in detail. Some of the standout clips from the video below include the loveable new droid BB-8, which used a combination of puppetry, animatronics and CGI to get its performance of screen. Also seen are some of the spaceship duels, most notably the first time that Finn (John Boyega) and Rey (Daisy Ridley) pilot the iconic Millennium Falcon against a pair of First Order TIE fighters.
Furthermore, IAMAG shows the aforementioned Nyong'o don a CGI suit and sport motion capture dots all over her face to deliver her performance as Maz Kanata, as she kneels for most of her shots on set.
Hit play on the video below and check out the CGI process for yourself.
