Next week promises to be a significant one for Google, as the company readies for a device event on 4 October. Among the products that are expected are two smartphones - the Pixel X and Pixel XL. Both devices have been detailed and rumoured throughout the past two months  but now VentureBeat has served up our best look yet.

The website specifically has a rendered image of the smaller 5" Pixel X, which will appear alongside its larger 5.5" Pixel Xl brethren next week. While we don't get a clear view of the phone's design, which is said to be manufactured by HTC, there is a look at the new Google UI. For Android diehards, these new devices will likely offer the purest version of Android to date, but how much better that will be compared to the Nexus phones of yesteryear remains to be seen.

Along with the image, VentureBeat has 'stumbled' across some of the phone's specifications, but their authenticity cannot be fully verified at this stage. The 5" Pixel X could feature a 1080p display up front, with a quad-core 2.0 GHz processor, 4 GB RAM and 32 GB of storage. Added to this, one may see a 12 MP camera on the rear and 2770 mAh battery internally.

If this specifications are indeed true, the Pixel X might be a little under-specced given its reported $649 (R8 800) price tag. That said, all will be revealed next week.
