Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but if you are really looking forward to Deus Ex: Mankind Divided (and judging by the video below, you should be) your wait just became a little longer.

Eidos Montreal, the game’s developers, have confirmed that the next chapter in the Deus Ex franchise has been delayed six months, pushing it out of the previous February 2016 window and into the middle of the year territory, August to be exact.

The reasoning though is sound, that of ensuring that when Deus Ex: Mankind Divided does arrive, it lives up to expectations. Over on the official site, David Anfossi, the head of the studio, elaborated that it became evident that the game requires more time in post-production for “tuning, iterations and refinements” to meet Eidos’ high standards.

One can bemoan that studios ought to stick to their announced launch date, but the reality is games and gamers are far better served when these are given the spit and polish they need to be worthy of their asking price and the high levels of anticipation they engender. After all, who doesn’t remember the mess that was Colonial Marines, and the disappointment when you realised that it wasn’t the Aliens game you had been pining for?

In the meantime, you can console yourself by taking another look at Adam Jensen 2.0 in action below.
