If you’re still using a Windows Phone smartphone and think you’ll be getting new updates, it is about time you abandon the burning platform. A tweet from Joe Belfiore, corporate vice president of Windows 10 at Microsoft, basically just killed off any hopes for the company’s own operating system.

While support for the platform remains, any new features, or hardware, seem now to be out of the question. According to Belfiore, a lack of app developers developing for the platform was a big problem. He notes that Microsoft tried to incentivise developers, but at the end, the lack of users of the Windows Phone system scared them off.

Answering a question on whether users should leave the Windows Mobile platform, Belfiore tweeted that it depends on the end-user, noting that he has switched platforms himself (he uses a Samsung Galaxy S8). “Choose what’s best 4 u,” he tweeted.

Microsoft stopped support for Windows Phone 8.1 earlier the year, and we can only think that its fate will certainly await all Windows Mobile users too.
