Featured comic book: Mengelmoes 4 by Willem Samuel
By Staff Writer 4 July 2016 | Categories: newsThe fourth volume of Willem Samuel’s Mengelmoes series is what one might call a bit of a bumpy ride. Our protagonist is finishing up his studies and working towards a final exhibition, with the feverish run up towards all this cleverly portrayed through a number of mini comics, complete with different styles.
While Mengelmoes #3 hinted at the fragile state of mind of the lead character, this volume, through some impressive artwork and also the introduction of colour, indeed confirms that all is not well. With a solid 60 pages to delve into, Mengelmoes #4 requires a stronger investment from the reader than the previous editions, and at the end leaves one with the feeling that you’re glad it’s over. Not because it wasn’t worth it, but simply because it was such a hectic trip.
