If you thought that Peter Jackson was pushing it to get The Hobbit into three parts, imagine Tetris the Movie so jam-packed that you have to space it into three separate movies, each hoping to be, ehm, a blockbuster. Empire reports that producer Larry Kasanoff confirmed that the Tetris movie will indeed be a trilogy, noting that they’re doing so, “purely because the story we conceived is so big.”

As can be expected, the title has a sci-fi edge to it, with the production currently billed as 'Untitled Tetris Sci-fi Project’, but Kasanoff says that we’re not looking at anthropomorphised shapes lined up to save Earth. "We’re not going to have blocks with feet running around the movie, but it’s great that people think so. It sets the bar rather low!” Kasanoff states.

We tend to agree with him with the low expectations part of the argument, and hope to be pleasantly surprised when the movie is released in, well, we suppose whenever the long red rectangle comes along. With casting currently underway, the first movie has an estimated budget of $80 000 000 according to IMDB.

Kasanoff is no stranger to sci-fi or gaming movies, having had a hand in producing some of the Mortal Kombat titles as well as the highly entertaining Strange Days.
