First Nintendo Switch streaming app launches in Japan this weekBy Robin-Leigh Chetty 12 July 2017 | Categories: news
When Nintendo first released the Switch console, there were a few questions about the non-gaming services that the company were going to bring to the platform. At the time, Nintendo did not have a dedicated streaming service for movies, TV shows or videos, but did state that some were on the way. Later this week, the first of these streaming apps will be arriving on the Switch in Japan, with Niconico making the announcement via Twitter.
For those unfamiliar with Niconico, it appears to work much like YouTube, with videos a number of videos catering to all manner of categories and content. Interestingly, it looks like live commenting is also an option on the service, akin to Facebook Live, with comments scrolling across the video in real-time. It does, however, make things look a tad messy, as you can see in the promo video above.
With Japanese Switch users now given their own streaming service to enjoy, we're awaiting word from Nintendo on when people in other regions will get their own platforms.
