Full trailer for Blade Runner 2049 intrigues
By Press Release 9 May 2017 | Categories: newsHold on to your electric sheep and get your Voight-Kampff test ready – the full-length trailer for Blade Runner 2049 has dropped.
Now, in the age of Ghost in the Shell, Mad Max: Fury Road and Ex Machina, how well will this movie do? Perhaps another question: Is a follow-up to Ridley Scott’s 1982 classic Blade Runner truly necessary? 2049’s saving grace might just be the fact that one of our favourite directors, Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Incendies) is in control of the project (while we still haven’t forgiven Scott for the nonsense that was Prometheus, so not trusting him with this one).
From the trailer Blade Runner 2049 appears to be quite a dense experience, packed with the same film noir vibes as the first flick. Ryan Gosling’s (La La Land) strange disconnect is serving the lead character, Officer K well, while Harrison Ford makes a return as Rick Deckard, whose days of retiring androids seems to be well behind him. The movie is built on the premise of Officer K making a discovery that has the potential to turn what’s left of society on its head.
Good news if you are into film scores is that long-time collaborator of Villeneuve, Jóhann Jóhannsson, is responsible for the soundtrack.
