Get your ice-scream! Stranger Things gets a teaser for Season Three
By Staff Writer 17 July 2018 | Categories: newsFans of Stranger Things, there’s some good and bad news. The good news is a new teaser has surfaced for the highly anticipated Season Three. The bad news? Well, it really doesn’t offer much in terms of what’s lying ahead. Instead, we’re provided with an 80s-laced ad for Starcourt Mall.
The only recognisable character from the ad, filled with 80s American mall nostalgia few South Africans will be familiar with, is the ‘daddy’ of the group, Steve Harrington (Joe Keery). Dressed in a uniform for Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop, he actually looks younger than before, and the cool guy image he had from Season One is long gone.
So what’s to learn from the trailer? Variety points to the year being 1984, due to Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA and Tom Clancy’s The Hunt for Red October being on display. However, previously a producer on the show noted that it will take place in 1985 – the same gap in time between Season One and Two.
We also know poor Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) will be spared, since it has been made known that his struggles with the Upside Down in the previous seasons will not be the focus this time round.
Which brings us to Starcourt Industries, the company responsible for the mall in Hawkins, Indiana. Is this perhaps a new evil corporation bringing horror to the town? And what exactly is in those Scoops Ahoy ice cream cones? Well, truth is, we don’t know. This is reserved for the minds of creators Matt and Ross Duffer, and we would have to wait until next year to find out.
Till then, here’s some mall nostalgia thrown your way.
