When Apple debuted its 12.9" iPad Pro last year, it dubbed it as a viable alternative to traditional PCs and notebooks. While its billing as such is still up for debate, the latest Google Docs update might make the iPad Pro, and iPads in general, more efficient at multitasking.

Earlier in the week, Google rolled out an update for its Docs applications for iOS 9 compatible devices, and in particular ones that could offer Split View functionality. This includes the 12.9"and 9.7" iPad Pro, as well as iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 4.

Despite iOS 9 being a year old already, along with other office suites offering multitasking options, iPad users should be pleased by the new update for Google Docs. The ability to snap two items side by side should prove the most used feature, especially when working on a Google Sheet and Slide at the same time, for example.

Along with the Slide Over (sliding upwards on the screen to check other applications or documents) and Split View, the new update also contains a handful of bug fixes, as well as the ability to insert page breaks and paste images.
