At the moment, all eyes are on Apple for its iPhone 7 debut, which is slated for 7 September. Recent reports, however, suggest the Cupertino-based company also has an overhaul of its MacBook Pro lineup in the works.

It has been four years since a significant update has been unveiled for the MacBook Pro, which still remains one of the company's best product silos despite its push in the tablet and smartphone areas of late.

According to Bloomberg, the new lineup of MacBook Pros will be thinner than their predecessors, along with featuring an intriguing touchscreen strip located just above the keyboard.

While precise details are unknown, it could mean that either the keyboard and trackpad will have to shrink in size to accommodate said touchscreen strip or the new batch of MacBook Pros will be larger in length. Also included in the overhaul will be new processors and GPUs, designed to make the MacBook Pros efficient at work or for gaming.

The new MacBook Pros aren't likely to make an appearance at next month's Apple event, but rather could be detailed in early 2017.
