Google is entering the world of travel. The company has unveiled a new mobile feature called Destinations, which allows users to plan their holidays, as well as get information for locations straight from Search. Google cited the need to create Destinations as it saw a significant 50% increase in travel-related searches on its platform over the past year.

To that end, Google is enriching its Search portal to collate information, as well as providing answers to some of the most frequently asked questions when planning a trip. What are the best places to visit? What time of year is good to go? What kind of prices can I expect?

At the moment, Destinations has approximately 201 cities in its database, each with their own curated itineraries. These itineraries will provide plans for a certain number of days. London for example, will have individual day plans, or three-day long plans for users to look over. The one limitation in this regard, as transport within a location or country is one area that is not fully catered to on Destinations.
