There’s a fair amount of debate surrounding the new Hellboy movie. While many fans were holding out for a third instalment of Guillermo del Toro’s effort on the franchise, their dreams were crushed by the announcement that the new Hellboy will be a reboot, while Del Toro was also to be replaced. Cue Ron Perlman quitting on what was the part he was born to play – Hellboy.

With the controversy behind us, what we have now is the first trailer for the new movie. And we like it. It stars David Harbour of Stranger Things as the eponymous character, while also casting Ian McShane (American Gods), Milla Jovovich (The 5th Element) and Daniel Dae Kim (Hawaii Five-0).

If you know your Hellboy canon, this R-rated movie is based on Darkness Calls, The Wild Hunt, and The Storm and the Fury comics. Helming the project is an old hand at horrors, Neil Marshall, who has done The Descent and Dog Soldiers in the past.

What we are hoping for is that the new movie stays true to the horror aspect of the comics, which, by looking at some of the monsters popping up in the trailer, it might just.
