With Honor smartphones now officially available locally, it's time to take greater interest in the devices that this manufacturer makes. For those unfamiliar with their heritage, they fall under the Huawei banner, but operate as an independent brand. That said, their latest smartphone looks a lot like a recent one debuted by Huawei.

The device in question is the Honor 10, which takes pretty much all its design cues from the Huawei P20. As such there is a bezel-less 5.84" display (2280x1080) with a top screen notch, as well as dual camera setup on the rear and gradient-style back cover in some interesting colours.

It also boasts the same Kirin 970 chipset, along with a generous 6 GB of RAM and 3340 mAh battery. The aforementioned camera setup includes a 16 MP RGB lens and 24 MP monochrome option, as well as a sizeable 24 MP front facing variant.

Set to launch in its native China next week (27 April) at an estimated 2 599 yuan (R4 960) for the 64 GB model. It's unclear whether South Africa will receive the device later this year, but if it does, there is certainly a nice option sitting between the P20 Lite and P20.
