With the weekend almost upon us, how about enjoying five new trailers with a Neill Blomkamp short thrown in for good measure?

Game of Thrones Season 7, Trailer 2
16 July on HBO

When the snows fall, and the white wind blows,
The lone wolf dies, but the pack survives.

We all know we’re in for a heck of a ride for the penultimate season of Game of Thrones, and if the second trailer is anything to go by, then yes, prepare for blood and mayhem. The theme of unity is brought up time and again, with signs of course portending to the White Walkers as the reason for this. Can we expect a big finale such as the Battle of the Morannon in The Lord of the Rings? One can only hope.

Best bit: The prototype lightsaber at 1:06.

Daddy’s Home 2
10 November 2017

Yes, there’s actually a second Daddy’s Home on the way. But with a bit of luck, it might actually be better than the first one. It will all come down to what the stars of the show, John Lithgow and Mel Gibson, bring to the party. Playing the dads of Brad (Will Ferrell) and Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) respectively, they are set to spend a Christmas together, with potentially disastrous consequences.

Best bit: Gibson descending the escalator.

Oats Studio - Cooking With Bill

We’ve watched Rakka land, and now Neill Blomkamp’s Oats Studio has dropped Cooking with Bill. The movie is a quick three minutes and a homage to oh-so-corny studio-setup infomercials. Of course, the moment the Damasu 950 with its omni-directional blades is revealed, you know where this is going. Not for the squeamish, give the latest from Oats a spin by hitting play below.

Best bit: Bill struggling with cutting the cheese, no pun intended.

Happy Death Day
13 October 2017

Groundhog Day meets Scream. That’s the sweet little premise of slasher movie, Happy Death Day, as our heroine Tree Gelbman (Jessica Rothe, La La Land) is set to repeat the day of her murder over and over again. We’ve got to admit that they had us at the Groundhog Day concept, and hopefully the movie is good enough to be become a sleeper hit, much like 2015’s It Follows.

Stronger
September 22, 2017

The 2013 Boston Marathon bombing left a terrible scar on the American psyche, with Stronger telling the uplifting story of Jeff Bauman’s (Jake Gyllenhaal) struggle after losing his legs in the explosion at the finish line. It’s based on the memoir written by Bauman and directed by David Gordon Green, best known for the far less serious Pineapple Express.

Best bit: Bauman making his way through recovery in the second half of the trailer.

The Only Living Boy in New York
11 August 2017 (USA)

Your relationship with a girl isn’t working out and you find out your dad is having an affair. The obvious thing to do is to also want to start something with this new, mysterious lady, right? It is if you are Thomas (Callum Turner, Green Room) in The Only Living Boy in New York. Kate Beckinsale, Pierce Brosnan and Jeff Bridges also star in this movie that is redolent of The Graduate.

Best bit: What’s her name?
