We start the week off by looking at some of the best new trailers that made their appearance recently. And all tastes are catered for.

Black Mirror (Season 4)

Release date: Sometime this year

More of a sneak peek than anything else, Season 4’s trailer does much to confirm that the next six episodes of Black Mirror on Netflix should be just as frightening and disconcerting as the previous ones. Charlie Brooker’s series is expanding into space in an episode entitled USS Callister, which looks a lot like a Star Trek spoof, hopefully exploring the darker side of this famous franchise.

Best bit: All of it really.

Last Flag Flying

Release date: 3 Nov 2017

Steve Carell, Bryan Cranston, and Laurence Fishburne make up a tantalising line-up, with Last Flag Flying exploring the suffering caused at home by America’s War on Terror. Larry "Doc" Shepherd (Carell) reunites with old friends to bury his son, killed in the Iraq War. Poignant with a splash of comedy, Last Flag Flying can be seen as the antithesis of movies such as Zero Dark Thirty.

Best bit: 1:26 when Neil Young kicks in.

Little Evil

Release date: 1 Sept 2017 (Netflix)

If you’ve ever seen The Omen you would know that it’s ripe for parodying. Little Evil does exactly that, with Gary (Adam Scott, Parks and Recreation) simply not being able to figure what the hell is wrong with his new stepson. It might be that his son is actually from hell, as evil seems to always conglomerate close by.

Best bit: 0:27 when the sock puppet speaks.

Borg vs McEnroe

Release date: 22 Sept 2017 (UK)

The coolness of Borg versus McEnroe’s hot head. This biographical film takes us to one of the best tennis matches of all time, and shows the immense pressure the contestants were under. From the latest trailer is seems like Danish director Janus Metz managed to capture the spirit of the time. Metz actually spent time in South Africa directing Soul City, while also working on the documentary Township Boys.

Best bit: Borg being ice cold at 0:16.

Wind River (Trailer #3)

Release date: 8 Sept 2017

Jeremy Renner has some good acting chops on offer and is so much more than just Hawkeye. In Wind River he plays the role of a tracker helping an FBI agent (Elizabeth Olsen) to find a missing girl on an Indian Reservation. The trailer gives the impression that there might be a bit of an arthouse element to this movie, although Wind River seems to cater to those looking for a bit of action too.

Best bit: Awesome build-up of background noise.

Literally, Right Before Aaron

Release date: 29 Sept

Your ex-girlfriend getting married can be a bit of a blow, and even more so for poor Adam who broke up with her just a year and half before she got engaged. Granted, Adam (Justin Long, Dodgeball) does come across as a bit barmy, while his ex (Cobie Smulders, How I Met Your Mother) snagged more of an alpha male. How this romantic comedy will end is anyone’s guess.

Best bit: 0:44, maybe not that long ago.

The Limehouse Golem

Release date: 8 Sept 2017

Bill Nighy is one of our favourite British actors, so any excuse to catch a glimpse of him is a good one. The Limehouse Golem takes place in Victorian London, and sees Inspector Kildare (Bill Nighy) on the hunt for the Limehouse Golem. The movie looks more like a traditional murder mystery than the Sherlock Holmes we got from Guy Ritchie, and is definitely more focussed on brain than brawn.

Best bit: Karl Marx making an appearance at 0:47.
