Huawei has strong first half with P10 & P10 Plus leading the charge
By Staff Writer 28 July 2017 | Categories: newsHuawei appears to be doing things the right way. The Chinese company has released earnings for the first half of 2017 for its mobile division, and it's yielded a string showing indeed. The company's status, both locally and internationally has grown, with the Huawei P10 and P10 Plus helping Huawei achieve its recent numbers.
To that end, revenue generated from sales during the first six months of 2017 totalled CNY 105.4 billion, which sees a 36.2% increase year-on-year. Also on the rise are smartphone shipments, with 73.01 million for the same period resulting in a 26% improvement compared to last year. Consequently, the P10 and P10 Plus has been cited by Huawei for the strong showing, with the company noting that sales of both devices were quadruple that of its predecessor.
As for what all this success means for local consumers, Huawei says that South Africa remains one of its best performing countries on the globe, with the brand's devices and visibility ensuring that it has an improved market share. Moving forward, we should be seeing more Huawei-specific retail spaces popping up locally, with the company planning to have 56 000 stores worldwide by the end of 2017.
With IFA around the corner, and the Huawei Mate 10 also expected later in the year, it should be interesting to see if the Chinese company can maintain its current momentum.
