Huawei will add new red and blue colour options to P9 flagship in 2017
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 6 September 2016 | Categories: newsHuawei's IFA 2016 presentation last week focused on two new mid-range devices in their smartphone lineup, the Nova and Nova Plus. In the days following that announcement, the Chinese manufacturer has turned its attention to its flagship, adding red and blue colour options to the Huawei P9 flagship which landed in South Africa in June.
The two new options will make six in total for local consumers to choose from, with rose gold, prestige gold, titanium grey and mystic silver currently available. Huawei says red and blue are set to dominate the world's runways in 2017, and while we'll have to take their word for that, having more options outside the usual grey, silver and gold is a welcome change.
While the P9 is set for a new lick of paint on the outside, internally it's still sporting the same features as the model debuted earlier in the year. More specifically, this includes a 5.2" Full HD (1080x1920) display is up front, with a Leica-certified 12 MP dual lens pulling duty on the rear. Added to this is a octa-core Kirin 955 processor, and choice of 3 GB or 4 GB RAM depending on the onboard storage model you opt for.
As far as when the red and blue P9's will arrive locally in 2017, Huawei Mobile South Africa has not commented at this stage, but more information will be forthcoming. Also unknown, is whether or not the new colour options will fall in line with the current R12k price tag.
