Injustice Championship Series landing locally with South African Cup
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 9 May 2017 | Categories: newsYesterday was a significant day for Injustice 2 with a number of announcements coming from developer NetherRealm. One of the most important, however, will be of interest to local gamers, with Ster Kinekor Entertainment and African Cyber Gaming League (ACGL) partnering for the South African Cup.
The tournament will form a part in the lead up to the Injustice Championship Series, which was also announced yesterday, and will kick off locally with a series of online qualifier tournaments (exclusively on PS4 consoles) starting 19 May. Thereafter, a Round of 16 and LAN Grand Finale will be happening on 25 June and 8 July respectively, with the winner taking home a prize of R60 000. Added to this, the South African Cup champion will take part in the VS Fighting tournament in Birmingham, England.
Registration for the tournament is already open, and is only valid for gamers over 18 years old and in possession of South African IDs.
Moving on to one of the other big news that was shared about Injustice 2. Publisher Warner Bros. Games revealed that three DLC characters have been earmarked for release after the game makes its 16 May cross-platform debut. The new DC heroes are Red Hood and Starfire, with Mortal Kombat favourite Sub-Zero also set to debut.
With the Mortal Kombat X tournament, also run by Ster Kinekor Entertainment, proving a hit, we think Injustice 2 could be equally as good.
