Instagram is constantly adding new features to its platform. The latest addition may not be the largest, but is a welcome one, with the ability to mute one's followers now available to users. The mute button will be rolling out to Instagrammers over coming days, which will allow for the removal of followers’ posts or stories from one's timeline.

Added to this will be the ability to still check in on the profile of followers that you've muted, along with ensuring that those who have been muted, will be unaware that it has been done to them.

While the mute button will prove helpful, the recently released Regram feature may prove far less welcome for users. For those unfamiliar with it, Regrams will allow users to repost content from other feeds into their own stories.

With Mute added to the mix, it should prove interesting to see whether users favour this option over the more cold blooded act of unfollowing or blocking.
