Instagram introduces new business tools
By Robin-Leigh Chetty 1 June 2016 | Categories: newsInstagram has announced a new range of tools specifically aimed at businesses. The social media platform has cited a significant rise in companies, both budding and established, that have used Instagram to drum up interest in their products. To that end, these new tools are designed to meet three specific needs, according to the company.
The first are Business Profiles, which are free to set up and are designed to be recognised as businesses on Instagram, although what that precisely entails is a little unclear. Instagram has noted that business users can determine how people can get in contact with them, either via phone, text, email or a in-app contact button.
Next is Insights, a tool that gives business users "actionable" data on what their followers are interacting with on the app. Instagram says this analytic data will help businesses create more timely and relevant content.
Rounding off the tools is Promote, allowing users to turn their popular performing posts into adverts on Instagram. According to Instagram, this will work by adding an action button to the desired post. Added to this is the ability to target a specific demographic for the post.
While the setting up of a business profile is completely free, Instagram has not divulged whether its other tools carry any kind of cost to users. Furthermore, the date of the tools arrival has not been specified, but the features are said to be rolling out to a number of regions in coming months. Hopefully these business tools go down better than the company's recent logo change.
